Stefano Coletti reassures himself at Spa

Stefano Coletti returned this weekend to Spa-Francorchamps, a circuit on which he was the victim of a violent off-track accident in August 2009, during a GP2 Series race (see video). The Monegasque driver could feel a slight apprehension at the idea of returning to the Ardennes ring but overcame it in the best possible way, by setting the best time of the day on Friday in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. At the end of the two test sessions, the Comtec driver was happy.

« Yesterday, when I took a walk to reconnoitre the circuit, I saw that the traces of my exit from the road last year are still there! During my first lap, it made me feel strange, affirms the Monegasque. But I love this circuit, I like the fast curves. It's perfect to start with this best weather. This confirms that we are performing well. »

A rookie in the discipline, Stefano Coletti had the luxury of being ahead of two experienced drivers, Sten Pentus and Daniel Ricciardo. " After my victory at Motorland, there was significant impact in Estonia, says Pentus. It?s really encouraging. I confirm today that we are still there. We still have work to do, but our car is effective. » Leader of the general classification of the discipline, Ricciardo is also satisfied. “ I have nothing to complain about, we are in the right boat. I won here in Formula Renault 2.0 and in F3, the goal is to win now in FR 3.5. »
