Tomoki Nojiri takes first 2021 pole at Fuji

The first qualifying session of the year 2021 in Super Formula saw the domination of Tomoki Nojiri (Team Mugen – Honda) on the Fuji route in Japan.

The winner of last year's Autopolis event took pole position by completing a benchmark time in Q3 in 1'21"173, beating Toshiki Oyu (Nakajima Racing - Honda) by 0"223. Ukyo Sasahara (Dandelion Racing) completes the control of the Honda engine blocks by moving up to third position ahead of his teammate Nirei Fukuzumi.

To find trace of the first car motor Toyota, we must look to fifth position with Sena Sakaguchi (P.mu/cerumo Inging). Tatiana Calderon (Drago Corse with Threebond – Honda) ranks 11th, while outgoing champion Naoki Yamamoto (Nakajima Racing) only takes 16th position, without being able to pass Q1.

The race will start tomorrow at 7:10 a.m. French time.
