Turvey, Prince of Monaco

For a first, it’s a great success. Oliver Turvey, who was racing for the first time in the streets of the principality, had the luxury of a first victory in FR3.5. The Briton was also very happy at the end of the race: “This is the first time I have raced here. There is no better place to achieve my first victory! I got off to a good start, from then on I knew victory was possible. I ignored the others and tried not to make the slightest mistake. The first victory is always the most difficult to achieve. It is now done, quite early in the season. It's good for the future. »

Everything started well for Turvey, who took the lead at Sainte-Dévote to lead the peloton. Behind him, James Walker was surprised by Adrian Zaugg, who took second place. The accident involving Marinescu and Move causes the safety car to come out and tighten up the cars. When the Safety Car returns to the pits, the first three of the pack escape. Turvey, Zaugg and Walker thus take off on their pursuers: Martinez, Molina, Baguette and DiSabatino.

Martinez had to retire on the 8th lap, experiencing brake problems, while his former traveling companions tried to catch up with the leading pack. But DiSabatino can't keep up the pace and has to stop due to an electrical problem. After this abandonment, the positions no longer changed and Turvey retained the lead ahead of Zaugg and Walker, then followed by Molina, Baguette, Alguersuari, Van der Drift, Valles and Pic. Oliver Turvey crosses the finish line in the lead, signing his first victory in Formula Renault 3.5 Series on one of the most beautiful tracks of the season. He is joined on the podium by Adrian Zaugg and James Walker, who is doing well in the general classification, coming within five points of Baguette and nine of Martinez.
