Vaxiviere and Stoneman conclude the tests at the top

On the Motorland Aragón circuit, the Lotus member F1 Junior Team set the best time in 1:40 to beat Tio Ellinas (Strakka Racing) and Racing Steps Foundation protégé Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports). In the afternoon, the pilot of the Red Bull Junior Team Dean Stoneman (DAMS) was the fastest during the final session of pre-season testing, ending a series of four sessions dominated by Matthieu Vaxiviere.

For this final rehearsal on the track which will host the opening of the World Series by Renault, two changes were to be noted among the entrants. At Zeta Corse, Facu Regalia took the place of Roman Mavlanov while Sean Gelael (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) was excused due to exams in London. The low-load aerodynamic setup on the rear wing was mandatory in order to complete preparations with the regulations that will be in force during collective practice 2, first qualifying and race 1.

Best time the day before, Matthieu Vaxiviere was the first to complete a timed lap. Tom Dillmann (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) and Oliver Rowland took over the lead before the Lotus F1 Junior Team member responded. His compatriot responded, but after Facundo Regalia stopped on track, Matthieu Vaxiviere improved to 1:40:662. This performance allowed the Frenchman to beat Tio Ellinas, Oliver Rowland, Beitske Visser (AVF) and Jazeman Jaafar (Fortec Motorsports) at the end of a morning concluded with start simulations.

During an afternoon marked by a strong wind and numerous pit-stop practices, Tom Dillmann quickly occupied the lead and regained it after a brief takeover by Meindert van Buuren (Lotus). Halfway through the session, Matthieu Vaxiviere took to the track and set the best time. The pace accelerated in the final minutes with Dean Stoneman, author of a lap in 1:41:273. The Red Bull Junior Team driver finally preceded Matthieu Vaxiviere, Oliver Rowland, Jazeman Jaafar and the 2014 winner of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Nyck de Vries (DAMS).
