Zimmer and ARTA: at least ALPS FR 2.0

Their 3rd absolute time in the collective tests at Le Castellet got them noticed. However, Yann Zimmer and the ARTA team cannot yet enter the Eurocup FR 2.0.

Zimmer and ARTA: at least ALPS FR 2.0

After two seasons of karting at the Auto Sport Academy, where he twice finished runner-up, Yann Zimmer won the ACO-Auto Hebdo Volant in 2008. Which allowed him in 2009 to be one of the great leaders of the Formul'Academy Euro Series. The driver with dual French and Swiss nationality, native of Yverdon, finished vice-champion behind Belgian Benjamin Bailly.

In 2010, Yann Zimmer continued in FR 2.0 in the ?MEC? championship. LO, which was reserved for older generation cars. First with ARTA Engineering, then with CO2 Motorsport. At the end of the year, Yann was able to discover the new Formula Renault 2.0, during a test with the Italian Cram Competition team. Reconnecting with ARTA, Arnaud Tanguy's team, he has since taken the wheel again for two days of driving in Valencia. Given the budget he has available to date, Zimmer is certain to participate in the new ALPS championship. This is why he was content, Monday and Tuesday on the Paul Ricard circuit, to use the quota of tires that the ALPS competitors impose on themselves, lower than that authorized during the collective sessions of the 'Eurocup.

His time, less than 5/10th of Carlos Sainz Jr and in the same hundredth as the best signed by Stoffel Vandoorne, the reigning champion of the F4 Eurocup 1.6, can only encourage him to renew the confrontation. “ The team worked well, we did with the means at our disposal and it worked well, since I slotted in among the drivers of the Koiranen team. Before the first day, I told myself it would be good to be in the top 5. I thought we had the ability. Monday evening I told myself that we could aim for the top 3 on Tuesday. I'm very happy to be at this level, because it was only the third time I drove this new car. Especially when we know that Sainz drives a lot, and particularly in F3.
Currently, we are a little constrained and forced to confine ourselves to the ALPS championship only. We are still looking for the money that would allow us to compete in the Eurocup. A group, called IENA, is trying to help me in this direction.
