Zolder hosts Superleague Formula

The opening of the Superleague Formula championship at Magny-Cours did not really smile on the French drivers. Going off the track or poorly adjusted single-seaters were the problems that Gommendy and Panciatici had to face all weekend. The first wears the colors of FC Porto and will be keen to shine on a circuit he knows well. The second represents Olympique Lyonnais. “ At Magny-Cours, I lacked success in the races since I was knocked off the track each time by other competitors. Zolder is a beautiful circuit. I hope my car will perform as well there as at Magny-Cours”, said Gommendy.

For his part, Nelson Panciatici was able to perfect the settings of his car in the colors of Olympique Lyonnais during a day of testing held the day after the inaugural round. “ This allowed us to resolve a number of technical issues that had arisen during the race weekend. So we remedied the top speed problem which was caused by poor fuel supply. This handicapped us by about 80 horsepower and we missed about 25 km/h on the straights. We also fixed the gearbox problems », he indicated before discussing his ambitions for the Belgian weekend. “ I know Zolder well having raced there in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. It's a circuit that I like and I hope to be able to get a place on the podium in one of the two races. »

Among the favorites, we of course find the Spaniard Adrian Vallès (Liverpool) who won the Magny-Cours event but also the Italian Giorgio Pantano (AC Milan) and the Dutchman Yelmer Buurman who will defend the colors of the Belgian club RSC Anderlecht. At home, he is determined to win. ?I am sure that many supporters will come and confident that I will be able to give them a good result to celebrate? Buurman said.
