Bagnaia on pole ahead of Quartararo and Zarco in Germany

After literally dominating the first day as well as the third free practice session, Francesco Bagnaia managed to make it happen in Q2 by taking pole position, his third of the season and his ninth in the premier category.

The Ducati representative clocked a time of 1’19.931, alone below the 1’20 mark. He is a little less than a tenth ahead of fabio quartararo, which almost went into 1’19 by seven thousandths of a second. On pole last year at the Sachsenring, Johann Zarco will complete the first position on the grid with the third time in Q2.

Having made a mistake in FP4, Aleix Espargaro missed the front row and finished in fourth position, just under two tenths from pole position.

Excellent performance for Fabio Di Giannantonio. The rookie, drafted in Q1, snatched the fifth time in Q2 ahead of Jack Miller. The Australian could well start from a little further back on the grid after falling under the yellow flags during the fourth free practice session.

Luca Marini inherits seventh time ahead of another Ducati, that of Jorge Martin. Maverick Viñales will close the third line in front of that made up of Takaaki Nakagami, who fell during Q2, Marco Bezzecchi, who also went through Q1, and Joan Mir, who did not hide his frustration after the checkered flag.

Note that the 2020 world champion will be the only Suzuki representative in the race; his teammate Alex Rins having withdrawn after FP3 due to his right wrist injury sustained at the first corner of the race in Barcelona.
