Di Giannantonio takes pole position at Mugello

The rookie knew how to deal with the precarious conditions of the Mugello circuit to take his first pole in the premier category in front of four other Ducati representatives.

Di Giannantonio takes pole position at Mugello

The arrival of rain in FP4 somewhat disrupted qualifying, which was contested in difficult conditions. Despite a very wet track in places, Fabio Di Giannantonio was the fastest ahead of Marc Marquez who did well. 

But at the start of Q2, Marc Marquez, wearing slick tires, made a serious mistake, causing the red flag to come out and the session to be interrupted. After a brief cleaning of the track, hostilities were able to resume. 

One by one as the track dried, a good number of drivers rose to the lead, but it was ultimately Di Giannantonio who came away with the honors ahead of another rookie in the person of Marco Bezzecchi, who as brilliant on his lands.

His compatriot and teammate Luca Marini completes the front row for a 100% Italian front row, a first since the 2016 Austrian GP.

Johann Zarco and Francesco Bagnaia allow Ducati to have no less than five riders among the top five ahead fabio quartararo and Aleix Espargaro. 

Pointed at four tenths, Takaaki Nakagami is the first Honda driver in the hierarchy ahead of Pol Espargaro. Marc Marquez will start 11th (although he qualified 12th following Jorge Martin's penalty). Enea Bastianini will be 10th on the grid.
