A sign of its determination at the dawn of the 2023 season, the team Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP was the first to present its new machine in Indonesia at the 3S Dealer Meeting, the world's largest trade fair dedicated to the Iwarta brand.
If the mechanical and aerodynamic developments of the new Japanese weapon are of course absent from these presentation models, the new dress of the YZR-M1 is the main novelty observed during the launch, since the Japanese manufacturer has incorporated a camouflage pattern into its blue style and iconic black. This new livery mixes Yamaha's blue signature with a touch of gray, while highlighting the signature logo of main sponsor Monster Energy. A style which is intended to illustrate the warrior spirit which animates the brand this season and which will be taken up by all Yamaha factory teams, particularly in MX and Supercross.
Yamaha factory riders fabio quartararo and Franco Morbidelli took the stage to proudly unveil their bikes alongside the president of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. Yoshihiro Hidaka and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team Principal & Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, Lin Jarvis.
2023 will be the year of all risks for Yamaha which will only enter two motorcycles this season following the RNF team's move to Aprilia. The post-season tests in Valencia did nothing to reassure the riders who were waiting for a notable engine development to stand up to the speedy Ducati. Fabio Quartararo didn't even hide a hint of concern: “We're going to say that there's something wrong, he declared then. We did the tests in Misano, Barcelona, Motegi and Jerez, and there was clearly an improvement. Today was just like last weekend. It's incomprehensible. There must be something, because the engine developed more power than that of Barcelona and Misano and we end up with similar performances as in 2022.
Faced with his new weapon, Takahiro Sumi, the president of Yamaha Motor Racing, wanted to be reassuring: “Since the Valencia Test, YMC’s Motorsport Development division has worked tirelessly to make further advances. Thanks to feedback from the riders and the team, we have made improvements with the aim of fighting for the MotoGP World Championship again this year.

With the arrival of the Sprint races, the drivers will take 42 starts this season. If the new Yamaha passes the style test with flying colors, it still has to face the verdict of the chrono. First elements of response on February 05 during the Shakedown in Sepang.
