After comparing the creation of the Kalex workshops on Friday morning with the old chassis, Marc Márquez and Joan Mir used it exclusively throughout the weekend, including in the Sprint on Saturday and in the main race on Sunday. For what assessment?
From the outset, it appeared that while the Kalex chassis could be a step forward, Honda still had work to do to reach the desired level. On Saturday evening, Marc Márquez seemed rather satisfied with what he had learned, with the advantage of offering a greater margin for error on the front axle of his RC213V.
“It seems that with the Kalex chassis you have to adapt your driving style a little, you have to go fast in the corners, but there is no need to attack... you have more room for error. noted the Spaniard. You can go wide and come back. We have the impression of being more aware of the limit. »
On Sunday, the eight-time World Champion seemed to have found the way to exploit the Kalex chassis. A fall at turn 7 at the end of the race prevented him from getting on the podium for his comeback, however the No. 93 wanted to temper the enthusiasm around this new element after the GP.
“Of course the chassis is a small difference and a help, but it's not a solution. tempered Márquez. Mir, who is a World Champion, was using the chassis and you saw he was in trouble, he was behind and he crashed again. We therefore have to change something for the future in order to be more competitive and safe because every year, Honda drivers are the ones who fall the most. »
Three weeks of debriefing before the next round won't be too much, but seeing Márquez fighting for victory in France was enough to make us happy!
