Zarco: “I’m still looking for my first victory”

Johann Zarco has two podiums in MotoGP on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans; the Frenchman has in fact finished second twice on the French route, in 2017 (his first Top 3 in the premier category) and last year at the end of an eventful flag-to-flag race.

This year, Zarco arrives with a knife between his teeth with the firm intention of making a clean sweep of his disappointment in the Spanish GP. “I hope I will be able to make the most of the bike here,” confides the Pramac rider. We should have some good sessions in the dry, so it will be important to find the right feeling from the start. After a disappointing race, the test was great to find something else and try to go faster. I hope this continues here at Le Mans. »

After two French meetings without spectators (or limited to 5000 in 2020), Zarco underlines the importance of fans. “There is the energy of the fans,” he said. They waited two years and both yesterday and today, they are already there ready to chant your name and that provides great energy. »

A few days ago the forecast called for plenty of sunshine, but Le Mans wouldn't be Le Mans without a few drops of rain. “Let’s see the weather,” says Zarco. The weather was forecast to be completely dry for the weekend, but that could change. So we will adapt and see. Everyone is ready to fight. Jack (Miller) loves the track and he will be there. I'm going to play my part and see what I can do. »

And to continue: “I think that to have recorded two podiums already this year is great, it’s a good sign. The fact that there are a lot of different drivers in the top three, to be one of the ones to do it again is good. But the two falls in Argentina and Spain do not help to be well placed overall, so let's find this regularity to do it again. I'm still looking for my first victory. I hope that by achieving this soon it will help me gain even more confidence and consistency. »
