French people ready to shine in the Canaries

If the first two tests of theERC 2022 had not been marked by a significant French presence, it will be quite different in the Canaries. For the first race on the tarmac of the calendar (May 12-14), there will be 6 at the start with each of them having the possibility of a good result at the end of the 13 scheduled ES (194,04 km timed). Operating the most efficient car, Yoann Bonato will seek to find a smile again after a complicated start to the season in France. On his Citroën C3 Rally2, the Deux-Alpes driver will build on his two previous participations (2e in 2020) to try to climb on the podium.

Winner last year in ERC3 when he discovered the special stages of the Spanish island, Anthony Fotia (26) will aim for a second place with his Clio Rally4. Winner on gravel in the Azores in ERC4, a new success would allow him to confirm his comfort in this category. However, he will have to be wary of Laurent Pellier who will use the Opel Corsa Rally4 for the first time Rally Junior Team. The 27-year-old driver also knows the terrain on which he achieved the feat of finishing 5e in 2018 with a Peugeot 208 T16 not very competitive. Even if it struggles to find its audience, the RGT Cup motivates the French and there will be two of them seeking victory. Between Manu Guigou and Raphaël Astier, it will be the continuation of their duel initiated at Monte-Carlo where the second named won. If they are going to discover the event, their respective experience could allow them to create a surprise on special stages where theAlpine A110 should be particularly comfortable.

Finally, in the Trophy Clio by Toksport, Ghjuvanni Red will try to achieve a success that has eluded them since last year.
