Last year, the first Cypriot round in the history of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge saw Nasser Al-Attiyah take the top step of the podium. The winner of the 2011 edition of the Dakar then won his 8th victory on the Mediterranean island, before winning a 9th last July, during the Pafos International Rally, which counts towards the Middle East championship. . But Al-Attiyah is not satisfied, and he intends to pocket a 10th on November 5, during the final round of the IRC 2011.
“I have won nine times in Cyprus, but I know that the rally is difficult, and there are many very good drivers in IRC, he admits. But that?s why I want to win it again. It’s a really nice event”. Like last year, Al-Attiyah will be at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000 entered by Autotek Motorsport, and will be co-driven by Italian Giovanni Bernacchini. Note that the course will mix dirt and asphalt, and that the points collected will be doubled.
