Alexey Lukyanuk close to success in Rome

Less dominant than yesterday on the special stages of the Rally di Roma Capitale, first round of the European Rally Championship ERC, Alexey Lukyanuk (Citroën C3 R5) however remains firmly anchored at the head of the Italian event.

If Andrea Crugnola (Citroën C3 R5), victim of a premature exit yesterday in SS1, demonstrated all his speed with four best times on six special stages contested since the start of this second day, Lukyanuk perfectly contains Giandomenico Basso (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5).

The Russian, 2018 European champion, has a 23″9 lead over Basso before the third pass in the three SS of the day. The tandem is followed by the always excellent Oliver Solberg (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5), clocked in at 58″4.

The other hot point of this last day will be the fight for fourth place between Simone Tempestini (Skoda Fabia R5) and Craig Breen (Hyundai i20 R5), seulement séparés par 2″3.

On the Rally Stars event, where the WRC, Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) regained the advantage over Pierre-Louis Loubet (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) in SS8 and now has a 23″5 lead over the Corsican.
