Andreas Mikkelsen consolidates his lead in Hungary

Already leader at the end of the first loop of the first stage of the Rally of Hungary 2020, round counting for the European Rally Championship ERC, Andreas Mikkelsen gradually increased his lead this Saturday and dominates his subject at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.

After sharing the scratches with Craig Breen (Hyundai i20 R5) dans l’après-midi, le Norvégien pointe ce soir avec 23″6 de marge sur l’Irlandais, alors que Grégoire Munster (Hyundai i20 R5) complète le tiercé de tête provisoire à plus de 1’21 ».

Norbert Herczig (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) and Efren Llanera (Citroën C3 R5) enter the top 5 this evening but more than 1'57" and 2'13" behind the leader. Oliver Solberg (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo), who suffered several punctures, was relegated to 9th place.

The big loser of the day is Alexey Lukyanuk. The Saintéloc Racing Citroën C3 R5 driver seemed engaged in a duel with Mikkelsen after the first four SS of the day, but an early score at SS6 awarded a 5′ penalty to the Russian, causing him to fall to the General classification.

Without his penalty, Lukyanuk would be in third position, 28″ behind Mikkelsen. As for Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 R5), after a difficult morning, the double French Rally Champion climbed into 15th position after this first day.

Seven stages will be on the menu tomorrow for the second stage.
