Andreas Mikkelsen leads in Hungary

Andreas Mikkelsen leads the Hungarian Rally with a handful of seconds ahead of Jan Kopecky at the end of the first stage. Thierry Neuville remains on the pace by maintaining his 1rd place.

Andreas Mikkelsen leads in Hungary

Andreas Mikkelsen led the Rally of Hungary since the first special. The Skoda driver has a lead of 8??7 over Jan Kopecky (Skoda), last winner of the Barum Rally Zlin, on the evening of the first stage where the last special of the day was canceled for safety reasons.

Thierry Neuville place first Peugeot 207 S2000 in third position. The Belgian remains a good contender for victory since he is only 12??7 behind the Czech. The winner of the Tour de Corse is still under threat from Freddy Loix (Skoda), who is only 11??3 away from a place on the podium.

Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot) completes the top five. The Frenchman scores in this first stage by falling 48??2 behind the Belgian placed in fourth position. “This day wasn't too bad, I hope to have a better day tomorrow by setting better times in the special stages of the second stage”, comments the Peugeot driver.

Guy Wilks (Peugeot) was in sixth position at the Hungarian Rally before encountering mechanical problems with his 207 S2000 in the Hetvehely special (SS5) forcing him to retire.

The crews will compete in the last six stages of the Hungarian Rally during the second stage which will include a total of 107,4km timed.
