Andreas Mikkelsen is still setting the pace in Hungary, and has a solid lead after the retirement of Craig Breen.

Andreas Mikkelsen escapes to the lead of Rally Hungary

By giving up in SS12 from Rally of Hungary 2020, event of the European Rally Championship ERC, Craig Breen (Hyundai i20 R5) a ouvert un boulevard à Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) for the final victory this Sunday.

Fighting with the leader of the event, the Irishman was forced to abandon with a mechanical problem, leaving Mikkelsen to take a more than substantial lead before the last loop of the day.

The Norwegian is in fact 1'41" ahead of Grégoire Munster (Hyundai i20 R5) before the last three stages of the second stage, and is in a good position to win for his official return to competition.

Norbert Herczig (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) climbs onto the third step of the provisional podium, but remains under threat from Niki Mayr-Melnhof (Ford Fiesta R5 MKII), only 11″ from the podium.

Efren Llanera (Citroën C3 R5) completes the top 5 at 0″3 from Mayr-Melnhof, and sees Oliver Solberg (Skoda Fabia Rally8 Evo) in his rear view at 3″2.

Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 R5) remains 12th, 4'11" behind Mikkelsen, while Alexey Lukyanuk (Citroën C3 R5), championship leader, is still in 15th position.
