Bengué ready with the Corsa

Since his violent exit from the road at the Var rally at the end of 2008, Alexandre Bengué has not returned to rallying. In Ypres, he will make his return with a brand new car and a new co-driver.

Bengué ready with the Corsa

The Opel Corsa Super 2000 will not make its first competitive laps in Ypres. The car developed in Wales by MSD, the structure of David Whitehead which prepared the early 2000s Hyundai WRC, has already contested the rally of Cork in 2008. But during the last round of the Irish championship, Austin Mac Hale, new owner of MSD, played with the number zero on the doors.

The real international debut of the Opel Corsa Super 2000 took place last weekend at the Acropolis Rally. The largest Opel dealer in Greece, Haris Kaltsounis (59) took part in a small national rally before taking part in the world round. His expedition ended in the last special stage on Friday. That's it for the little story.

Alexandre Bengué will therefore be the first driver to make this new Super 2000 evolve in the IRC and will be associated with Matthieu Baumel with whom he did tests on Monday at a base near Epernay in the rain. Shod in Hankook, the Corsa Super 2000 is still raw from the foundry and the first outing in Belgium will constitute a real life-size test.
