Bouffier ready for IRC season

Bryan Bouffier, after three Polish Champion titles, a French Champion title and a victory on the Rally Monte-Carlo will now aim for the IRC title. Leader of the series thanks to his victory in the Principality, the Diois saw his program confirmed by Olivier Quesnel. The director of Peugeot Sport wants to see him go for the title and restore the image of the French manufacturer against Skoda.

“He will do enough events to be able to win the championship. It’s very expensive but we’re going to try to optimize that to give him the means to be champion,” Quesnel explained on RMC. “Bryan is an endearing and efficient boy. He is very strong in his head. From the moment he took the lead, he had to manage this long Monte-Carlo. He did this with great serenity. It also benefited from our tire strategy. It's good that it fell on him. »

For his part, Bryan Bouffier recognizes that a victory in Monte-Carlo is not like any other victory. “For the last few hours, my life has been even more beautiful,” he said on the show Motors. I feel very light. I have had many good moments in my career but this one is exceptional. It is a great pride and a lot of happiness. »

From now on, it is the IRC which is looming for the Drômois, without thinking of a continuation in WRC. “It was in discussions before the rally. Olivier (Quesnel) announced it. We are going to have a very nice season in the IRC and it is starting off in a very good way. But we are not going to skip the steps. I will try to achieve good results this year in the IRC and then we will see next year if there is an opportunity to go to the WRC. »
