Campana in 207 S2000 at the Tour de Corse

Three weeks ago, Pierre Campana won the “Ronde del Grifo” for the second time in a row, a rally contested in Italy, in Category S2000. The Frenchman could even have sought overall victory if he had not been slowed down by a slower competitor during the first special. Regardless, his performance did not go unnoticed and certainly helped him find a seat in S2000 for the next Tour de Corse.

Indeed, from May 13 to 15, it is not at the wheel of his usual two-wheel drive Clio that Pierre Campana will participate in the 1000 bends rally, but on board a Peugeot 207 S2000 prepared by the Italian Munaretto team. The 24-year-old Corsican already took part in his home rally in 2008, finishing in 3rd place in the JWRC. This year, the event passes on the first day through the region where it comes from: Corte.

“Having the opportunity to compete in the Tour de Corse again is fantastic, he exults. I'm already looking forward to the event, and I'm thinking about the support my friends and fans will give me. The season has started very well at Monte-Carlo, and I am arriving “at home” as leader of the two-wheel drive category in IRC, which makes things even more special. I haven't competed in the Tour de Corse for three years, but I like its new format, it's a bit reminiscent of the old days. I am very sensitive to the kind eye that Peugeot Sport shows in my participation in this rally. I hope to benefit from their valuable advice. This Tour de Corsica represents the high point of my season, my determination to achieve a good result is unwavering. I am aware that this is an opportunity to be seized, but I also know that the test is long, especially the last day... so I will approach it step by step, we will see where we stand, and what we can then consider…”

Pierre Campana's performance will be closely monitored during this third round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge next month on the island of beauty?
