2024 ERC Championship: 8 rallies with the return of a round in England?

The next season of the European Championship should include the same number of dates with the introduction of two new features. If there is still a project to integrate France, this should not happen in 2024.

2024 ERC Championship: 8 rallies with the return of a round in England?

There is nothing official yet and permutations are likely to occur depending on the signing of the different agreements, but the program of theERC 2024 is taking shape. There is clearly no desire to change the plan put in place this year. There should therefore be 8 meetings with a fair distribution of 4 on dirt and 4 on asphalt.

The first significant change should be the disappearance of the Rally Serras de Fafe in Portugal which opened the championship for the last three years. The order in which the races will take place is not yet clear, so it is not possible to say which of the Canaries, Poland (if the event is not promoted in WRC !) or Royal Scandinavia will be on pole in 7 or 8 months. In addition to these three rounds similar to 2023, Roma Capitale, Barum and Hungary will also be on the list.

To replace Portugal, there is obviously a desire to visit Ceredigion which is based in Aberystwyth (bless you…) in Wales (180 km north of Cardiff). This season, this rally which takes place on asphalt is integrated into the TER (September 2-3). Will it stay on the same surface? Will he have to find specials on land? Before being certain of appearing in the ERC, there remain questions of budget, because it seems that the English federation (led by David Richards) does not intend to put a Pound Sterling into this project. If this accession takes place, the organizers must not fantasize about a possible arrival in the WRC. They have already been notified that this will not happen.

The other modification will concern Liepaja which takes the elevator towards the elite while Estonia should take the opposite path. Discussions are still ongoing. This is also the case for a meeting in France. For two years, there has been a desire among the promoter to come to France, but this will not happen in 2024. The validation of all these rumors and the concretization of the calendar will have to wait for the coming weeks. An E-vote is planned before the end of August for the WRC. Will the ERC be integrated into the same process?
