Makeover for Freddy Loix

A major competition was launched in schools in Belgium: no less than 940 drawings were received, an increase of 25% compared to 2008. The big winners were Soulaïmane Basri, from the Ecole Communale des Haies de Gilly (on the left of the 207) and France De Potter, from the Vrije Basisschool in Ouwegem (right side). The least we can say is that the whole thing is very successful.

With five successes, Freddy Loix is the only record holder for the number of victories at Ypres. He won in 2008 ahead of his stablemate Nicolas Vouilloz, current IRC title holder. Like last year, the Belgium Ypres Rally should be dominated by the S2000s, which will be nineteen at the start: 11 Peugeot 207, 3 Skoda Fabia, 2 Abarth Grande Punto (for Giandomenico Basso and Bernd Casier, who replaces Anton Alén), 1 VW Polo (for Patrick Snijers, four times winner at Ypres and who is participating in the event for the 31st time!) , 1 Proton Satria Néo (for Guy Wilks) and 1 Opel Corsa OPC (for Alex Bengué, finally back in competition).
