ERC – Alexey Lukyanuk wins in the Canaries

Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5) wins the Rally of the Canary Islands (Spain), first event of the season, after taking advantage of the problems of Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Fiesta R5) in the first pass of the second stage.

The reigning European champion was comfortably installed in the lead following Mads Ostberg's (Fiesta R5) crash the day before (video) but the Pole lost his entire lead following a tire pressure error. Alexey Lukyanuk took the lead without forcing and won with a 32-second lead.

Luis Monzon Artilles (DS 3 R5) completes the podium almost two minutes behind the winner, preceding Yonaton Pérez Suarez (Fiesta R5). Robert Consani (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) finished in fifth place after encountering mechanical problems causing him to lose several positions.

The Pole Wojciech Chuchala (Subaru Impreza STI) wins theERC 2 with more than three minutes ahead of Peter Ranga (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) who retained the advantage over Giacomo Scattolon for less than five seconds. Lukasz Habaj wins ERC 3 in his Peugeot 208 VTI R2.
