ERC – Breen in the lead in Valais, Bouffier already on foot

Craig Breen (Peugeot 208 T16) dominated the first day of the Rally of Valais (Switzerland), last event of the seasonERC. In the absence of Kajetan Kajetanowicz, winner of the Acropolis Rally at the start of the month, the Irishman proved untouchable by winning the qualifying stage and the three stages of the first stage.

A Peugeot match seemed to be taking shape between Craig Breen and Bryan Bouffier, but the Frenchman retired at the end of the first special (Leukerbad) after tearing off his left rear wheel and brake disc following contact with a low wall. " It's my fault ", recognized the French pilot.

The local pilot Olivier Burri (DS 3 RRC) is Craig Breen's closest rival with 15 seconds behind. The Swiss is seven seconds ahead Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5) which took the advantage over Francois Delecour (Porsche 911 GT3). Le vice-champion du monde 1993 du WRC moved into the top three before giving up a position at the end of a particularly winding special stage, complicating his work with his rear-wheel drive car.

The second stage of the Rallye du Valais will begin this Friday, October 30 from 10:05 a.m.
