Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia S2000) had to attack in the second stage of the Sibiu Rally, the leader of the Romanian event remaining under threat of Peugeot by François Delecour. But the Frenchman suffered a puncture allowing the leader of theERC to set sail. The former winner of Rally Monte-Carlo preferred to secure its place on the podium by letting the Czech achieve a fourth success this season. “This rally was very hard, but I am very happy that Skoda offered me this opportunity which allows me to score my second victory on gravel”, declared the winner.
With the retirement of Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot) the day before, the rest of the peloton could not claim success. Toshi Arai completed the podium in his Subaru Impreza STI R4 and won in the Production category even though the Japanese finished more than six minutes from the lead in the race. Marco Tempestini took fourth place in his Fabia S2000 after taking advantage of the misfortunes of Edwin Keleti (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X). David Botka completes the top five of the Sibiu Rally at the wheel of his Mitsubishi.
