ERC – Peugeot takes on the asphalt

If the Lioness will not be making her first attempt on asphalt (after her first laps in Italy), it will be the first time that Craig Breen and Kevin Abbring will evolve into ERC on this ground. In addition, the configuration of the Irish special stages, narrow and often fat, will present a challenge to the French team. Stage regional Craig Breen will want to show that he is as comfortable as on dirt.

?I?m excited to ride at home with Peugeot , explains Breen. If this is the 4th time that I participate in the rally from Ireland, most of the stages will be new to me. So I discovered the route like everyone else. The passages are generally very fast and very narrow, with wider and slower areas, and of course jumps that you don't see anywhere else. »

His Dutch teammate will above all want to make up for it after an Acropolis rally cut short by an overheating problem. “Of course I still lack experience but the feelings in Greece were very good, says Abbring. I'm approaching the Irish round in the same way, trying to adapt to the new special format. I hope to be as competitive as in Greece or even better. In any case, Craig will be the perfect point of comparison and it will not be easy to tell the difference. We will also have to see how the competition behaves there. Like I said, I can't wait! »

The rally will begin on Thursday with the first practice sessions.
