ERC – Peugeot strengthens its presence among young drivers

Faithful to its reputation as a scout of young talent, Peugeot Sport will continue its activities in rally in 2018 with the addition of a partnership with the European Rally Championship (ERC). The 208 Rally Cup will be held alongside the French Rally Championship (four on asphalt, three on gravel) for the sixth consecutive year. The drivers will always ride on 208 R2s.

Significant outlets are planned in the ERC. Firstly, the mid-season leader of the Under-23 class will be placed on the ERC's Junior Experience training program to improve his fitness and driving skills. In addition, the final winner of the under 23 category will benefit froma six-round ERC3 program in 2019. Peugeot Sport has another gift for those over 27: a season in 206 T16 R5 in ERC Junior, following in the footsteps of Laurent Pellier, the 208 Rally Cup champion in 2017.

Laurent Guyot, Customer Programs Manager for Peugeot Sport, is delighted with this association with Eurosport Events, the promoter of the ERC. “The 208 Rally Cup is a great way to progress. The level of competitiveness is very high and our formula attracts foreign drivers. We now offer a wide choice of options for participating in a rally as well as a calendar adapted to the FFSA French Championship. The 208 Rally Cup is fun and affordable”, He explains.

ERC coordinator Jean-Baptiste Ley sees Peugeot “widely recognized rallying heritage and pedigree”. “It is also very satisfying to see that Peugeot Sport recognizes the potential to learn and progress during a sporting career within the ERC platform. We look forward to playing our part in the development of a new generation of rally drivers supported by the French manufacturer. »

The French calendar will begin on the weekend of March 30 and April 1 at Terre des Causses (Lot), a week after the opening of the ERC in the Azores (March 22-24).
