ERC – Reinis Nitiss on Liepaja Rally

La second season of the World Rallycross Championship will not begin until April 24 in Portugal in Montalegre. Taking advantage of this long offseason, the Latvian Reinis Nitiss, who competed this year in a Ford Fiesta Supercar of the Team Olsbergs MSE in WorldRX, will start from Liepaja Rally, second round of the European Rally Championship ERC, at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R2 from the Latvian Sports Racing Technologies team.

“By participating in the World Championship of Rallycross, I understood that there is still a lot to learn in order to repeat what was achieved in this first year, admits the 19-year-old pilot on his website. As the opening of next season is four months away, I wanted to make the best use of this available time, improving my driving skills. I am extremely happy to join the technical expertise of Sport Racing Technologies with the know-how and training of Māris Neikšāns (pilot of rally Latvian, Editor’s note), and to be able to race here in Latvia. »

Basis man with Andreas Bakkerud for the success of Team Olsbergs MSE in the Team championship in WorldRX, Nitiss believes that the unpredictable nature of the rally will be able to help him in future rallycross contests. “You have to adapt to changing conditions. My goal for the race is to compete in all the stages, in order to learn as much as possible. In this rally I will not fight for victory, but with myself, because there will certainly be situations that I will not have experienced before as a driver. A good example is the longest stage of the rally, which, at 37 kilometers, is roughly the distance I achieve in a full rallycross weekend. »
