ERC – Robert Kubica promising in the Canaries

Robert Kubica has already stood out at Rally of the Canary Islands by signing the scratch in the shakedown of the event with a time of 1'26"5 in the 2,5km special. The Pole relegated his closest pursuers Jan Kopecky and Luis Monzon, both former winners of the rally, to six tenths. However, the Citroën DS3 RRC driver draws no conclusions at the end of this last test session. “The shakedown doesn't matter but it was important to spend more time in the car and gather information after our short test session here last Monday. We still have to work a lot but everything has gone well for us so far. »

The Citroën driver still has to finalize the settings of his DS3 RRC with which he will compete in a double program in ERC and in WRC2. Interest in the former Renault driver F1 Team is to collect experience. “I'd be lying if I said I felt more confident after the shakedown. We are losing downforce and we still have to work on the settings. The special stages are fast with very winding sectors offering no margin for error. But it will be a shock for every rally that I take part in for the first time because experience is really very important in rallying and the challenge is very difficult when you discover the special stages. »
