Eurosport promotes the ERC at the expense of the IRC

The IRC Series and the European Rally Championship will no longer be separated. After creating the IRC Series in 2007, Eurosport Events seemed to have succeeded in its challenge by quickly offering very tough events. However, the absence of Peugeot S2000 this year reduced the prestige of the fields composed almost exclusively of Skoda drivers able to fight for victory. On the other hand, the European Rally Championship is desperately trying to regain media coverage and prestige that has fallen into disuse.

The FIA ​​reacted by announcing at the end of its World Council that Eurosport Events would become the new promoter of the European Rally Championship from next year. The forces involved in the IRC will thus support this Championship which the promotion company will be responsible for for a period of ten years.
