Hänninen, towards a SWRC – IRC double?

Last weekend in Catalonia, Juho Hänninen won the rally of Spain in the SWRC category. A brilliant performance which allowed him to win the title, which was his major objective at the start of the season. But the Finn and his co-driver Mikko Markkula do not want to stop there. Next week in Cyprus they would like to be offered the chance by Skoda to retain their IRC crown. Even if their participation in this event was not initially planned in their program.

“Defending my IRC crown was not my goal this year, but now that I have accomplished my goals (the SWRC title, editor’s note), I am more relaxed, and can afford to take some risks” emphasizes Hänninen. Before the final meeting of the season, and although having missed several rounds, the 2010 champion is only 6 points behind leader Jan Kopecky.
