IRC – Dimitar Iliev wins the Sliven Rally

Taking advantage of a lighter field at the Sliven Rally, local driver Dimitar Iliev (Skoda Fabia S2000) took the opportunity to win the Bulgarian event after maintaining a lead of 11 seconds over his direct rival Petar Gyoshev (Peugeot 207 S2000). Krum Donchev places a second Peugeot on the podium after taking the lead over the Renault Clio R3 of Todor Slavov, the latter failing 24 seconds from the podium and completing this quartet of Bulgarians. The Renault driver also wins the two-wheel drive category.

Yagiz Avci (Ford Fiesta S2000) failed in fifth position following a 20-second penalty imposed for a delay at the start of a special stage. The Turk, winner of the previous round at the Yalta Rally, would have taken fourth position with a six-tenths lead over Todor Slavov without this penalty. Martin Kangur finished sixth in his Honda Civic Type R3 ahead of the Fiesta R2 of Murat Bostanci. Robert Consani took eighth place with his Renault Mégane RS and fourth place in the two-wheel drive category.
