Rally Hungary on the 2019 calendar

Eurosport Events, the promoter of theERC, revealed the provisional calendar for the 2019 season. The main novelty comes from the replacement of the Rally from the Acropolis by the Hungarian Rally, an asphalt event which will serve as the final round from November 1 to 3. This is the first time since 2003 that this race will be included in the European Rally Championship program.

The event will be contested around Nyiregyhaza located in the north-east of the country, the city having already hosted several local events in the 1980s.

“We could have proposed a national standard race with a length of 150km to host a European round since this criterion is sufficient for the FIA delegates. But we decided to organize a race to European standards with 600 people who will work on the event”, comments Tamas Öry, the organizer of the Hungarian Rally.

“We will offer quality stages with courses used in the 1980s which have been forgotten by most. There will be a 26km special which is very unusual for Hungarian courses but which is an obligation to host an international event”, added the organizer.

The other changes to the calendar concern the events in Latvia and Poland which will be contested earlier in the season.
