Meeke takes an option

After the two super specials contested on Thursday evening, the competitors of the Rally from Scotland met on Friday to compete in five new stages in the Welsh forests around Perth and Stirling.

As he concluded the first stage, Kris Meeke won the first stage of the day, Craigvinean 1 (SS3), ahead of his two main competitors McRae and Wilks. But the latter did not give up and from SS4, the double British Rally Champion set the best time and closed to 4??1 of the IRC 1009 Champion.

After service, however, Kris Meeke set the record straight by setting the best time in SS5. However, as in the morning, Guy Wilks responded straight away and came back to 5?6 behind the Northern Irishman before the last special of the day.

Contested at night, this final timed event was however going to be one-sided since Kris Meeke completed the special with 15??1 and 15??6 respectively over McRae and Wilks. “ It was very difficult because my lights were set too low and I couldn't see far away. », Reacted Meeke upon arrival. “ But I attacked and it went well. It?s very difficult in the dark but the atmosphere is incredible and the spectators are great. »

Before the final stage, Meeke now has a lead of 21??2 over Guy Wilks and 1?18??2 over Alister McRae. On Saturday, the drivers will set off for the third stage of the RAC MSA Rally of Scotland. They will complete two identical loops of three special stages including Loch Ard, a 33,52 km long ES which promises surprises.
