Jan Kopecky began to believe it. Winner of the last two Rallies, the Skoda driver was within one point of Kris Meeke in the IRC general classification. Skoda, which had not planned to compete at the end of the season, had even extended its commitment to allow the Czech to challenge the British team for the title. Peugeot UK. But, having left in the second special, Kopecky almost said goodbye to the supreme reward.
Fourth after the first stage (four specials), Kris Meeke had to take victory to widen a gap of eleven points on the Czech and secure the IRC title this weekend. The Briton then set about the task, setting the best time in SS5, SS6 and SS8. At the wheel of his Peugeot 207, Meeke took control of the Rally from the second special of the day, finishing the event more than fifteen seconds ahead of Luca Rossetti (Abarth Grande Punto S2000).
Thanks to his scratch time in the last special of the event, Renato Travaglia (Peugeot 207 S2000) snatches third place on the podium, only ahead of Nicolas Vouilloz (Peugeot 207 S2000) by eight tenths. Freddy Loix (Peugeot 207 S2000) finished in fifth position, ahead of Paolo Andreucci (Peugeot 207 S2000), who dominated the rankings on the evening of the first stage.
