Mikkelsen keeps his feet on the ground

After missing out on victory several times this season, Andreas Mikkelsen finally achieves his goal in the Rally of Scotland after largely dominating the event. The Norwegian, who failed in second place at the Sanremo Rally for 1??5 behind Thierry Neuville (Peugeot ), won ahead of reigning champion Juho Hänninen (Skoda) and Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot).

The Skoda UK driver has come a long way after experiencing a tumultuous season. “This year has been full of ups and downs since Monte-Carlo”, comments the winner. “It wasn't a perfect start but we were still able to score some good results and I narrowly missed out on victory on several occasions. I was constantly sliding at 160km/h on the special stages. I slipped from the first gear on the last two courses of the event, it was really scary, and I am happy to have arrived whole. Crossing the finish line was my best moment in a rally car. »

If Andreas Mikkelsen climbs to fourth position with the higher points coefficient in this event, the Skoda driver does not think he can claim the title in Cyprus for the last event of the season. “We will be there in Cyprus, indeed”, however, assures the Norwegian. “I am in a position to win the title but the chances are still very slim. My goal up there will just be to do my best. All my rivals would have to go off the road but I will fight. »
