Monte-Carlo: return to the WRC?

Le Rally Monte-Carlo, after two absences in WRC, could make his return to the world championship next season. The event, which will celebrate its centenary in 2011, could thus appear on the IRC and WRC calendars, a possibility which does not frighten Neil Duncanson, managing director of North One Sport, promoter of the WRC. “ I don't see why we would be opposed to this possibility., he says this week in the columns of AUTOhebdo. We have already spoken about it with Marcello Lotti (head of the IRC, editor’s note). He doesn't seem to close the door. »

While the world championship has thirteen events this season, Neil Duncanson affirms that the 2011 season will be more extensive. “ We will go to 14 or 15he says. We are certain to recover all the “classic” rounds, with the exception of Monte-Carlo, with which we are in negotiations. »

After seeing the victories of Sébastien Ogier in 2009 and Mikko Hirvonen in 2010, the Monte-Carlo Rally could regain its place on the world championship calendar. But negotiations are likely to be tight between North One Sport and the Automobile Club de Monaco.
