Neuville finds success at Sanremo

After missing out on victory by eight tenths behind Jan Kopecky at the Mecsek Rally, Thierry Neuville signs his second victory of the season Rally of Sanremo after winning last in the Tour de Corse. The event once again had a breathtaking ending when leader Freddy Loix (Skoda) retired two stages from the finish.

The pilot Peugeot won by only 1??5 ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda), who held first place in the standings for a long time before being caught by the Belgian one stage from the finish. Bryan Bouffier comes to congratulate his teammate by taking third place, 14??5 behind the Norwegian.

Jan Kopecky (Skoda) failed just off the podium in an event where the Czech admitted to not feeling comfortable. His Fabia S2000 is ahead of Bruno Magalhaes' 207 S2000. “We are happy to be at the finish and we are sorry for Freddy (Loix), I am not happy with my performance but that happens sometimes”, comments the Skoda driver at the end of the last special.

Pierre Campana (Peugeot) finished in eighth place after suffering a puncture in the longest special stage of the event. The Corsican was aiming for a top five at the start of the rally.
