New dates for the Azores and Fafe

Postponed last April due to the health crisis, the Rally of the Azores is still on the program for the 2021 European Rally Championship season. L'ERC has in fact confirmed the rescheduling of the Portuguese round from September 16 to 18.

The Azores will also be the scene of the first event of the second double-header of the year after the Poland-Latvia sequence at the start of the season. Indeed, two weeks after the event on the Portuguese island, the Fafe Rally will take place (October 1st to 3rd), still in Portugal. As a reminder, this system was put in place to reduce logistics and competitor costs.

« Making the ERC as affordable as possible has always been a priority and we hope that the double-header concept will significantly reduce costs for teams and drivers, underlines Jean-Baptiste Ley, coordinator of the ERC.

With the postponement of the Azores Rally we had to overcome challenges so that the double-header with the Fafe Rally could be maintained. This was possible thanks to the considerable efforts and cooperation of some organizations ».

The 2021 ERC calendar

  • Rally Poland – June 18 to 20
  • Latvia Rally – July 1-3
  • Rally of Rome (Italy) – July 23 to 25
  • Rally Czech Republic – August 27 to 29
  • Azores Rally (Portugal) – September 16 to 18
  • Fafe Rally (Portugal) – October 1 to 3
  • Hungarian Rally – August 22 to 24
  • Canary Islands Rally (Spain) - November 18 to 20
