Yoann Bonato’s first ERC victory

Determined to play the leading roles, the four-time French champion made his mark in the first of the 14 special stages (i.e. 235,52 timed km) scheduled then he moved into the leader's chair from SS2. “ However, it was very complicatedhe explained. I expected the road to be dirty after the competitors of the WRC, but it was even worse than I could have imagined. It looked like a real construction site. » This did not prevent the French crew from winning 5 of the 7 sections contested and returning to Salou with 18s5 over the Spaniard Efren Llarena who obtained the title in ERC this season. Managing his lead perfectly, Bonato was then able to negotiate the new pitfalls of this final stage, notably a morning shower. While this participation was decided late, the French driver was able to rely on the efficiency of his Michelin tires in all conditions to achieve, at the age of 39, the very first success of his career in the ERC. For his part, Laurent Pellier signed another very good performance by setting times ahead of Rally2 with his “small” Rally4, finishing in 7e rank.

Laurent Pellier was impressive with his Opel Corsa Rally4 (Red Bull)
