Sanremo: Andreucci – Rossetti duel

Kris Meeke, fighting for the IRC title, is now relieved of some pressure. Fourth in the ranking of Rally Sanremo after the four stages contested on Friday evening, the Northern Irishman saw his opponent in the IRC title race, Jan Kopecky, make a mistake. However, the Czech was able to be the fastest during SS1. But during the following special, the driver of the Skoda Fabia S2000 went off the road and damaged his left rear wheel, causing him to stop prematurely.

During SS2 and SS3, it was the Italian driver Paolo Andreucci (Peugeot 207 S2000), who set the scratch times to place himself at the head of the rally. During SS4, the longest special of the weekend with 44 km on the program, Andreucci set the third time, behind Luca Rossetti (Abarth Grande Punto S2000), who beat Nicolas Vouilloz (Peugeot 207 S2000) by 4?? 8. At the end of SS4, however, it was Paolo Andreucci who dominated the general classification, ahead of Luca Rossetti, Nicolas Vouilloz, Kris Meeke (Peugeot 207 S2000) and Freddy Loix (Peugeot 207 S2000).

François Duval (Abarth Grande Punto S2000) is tenth, at 1?16?? of the leader. Juho Hanninen (Skoda Fabia S2000) is eleventh, Guy Wilks (Proton Satria S2000) fifteenth, Julien Maurin (Skoda Fabia S2000) seventeenth and Pierre Campana (Renault Clio R3C) twenty-fourth.

This Saturday, five special stages are on the program, for a total of 116 km.
