Vincent Ducher from Saintéloc: “Very worried about next year”

Sainteloc is involved in several championships. Are you confident about the recovery?

En ERC, they are considering finding new dates for Latvia and Poland. To my great surprise, Rome maintains its presence, then we will see about the Azores. Organizers and promoters can do what they want, decisions are made by governments!

What is, however, in the hands of the FIA and the promoters is the reduction of costs for 2021. If I am confident for this year, I am very worried about next year.

Why ?

For 2020, this may still work. The pilots had planned budgets. They may have fewer, but since there will be fewer appointments, it should even out. On the other hand, for 2021, if we start again with a pattern of 8 races in ERC, 13 in WRC and without reducing expenses, this is not possible.

In motorsport we are all living beyond our means, and when there is a crisis you cut out everything that is not essential. Everyone will cut their spending. So I told the FIA that for private teams, costs had to be reduced by 40%.

Can this succeed?

The promoter's economic model is based on 13 or 15 rallies and if there are only 8 left, it collapses. We are here to live! We need to have customers who can afford that.

The question must be asked whether the organizers can do without private teams. The latter ensure part of the field and significant entry rights.
