After Rally Monte-Carlo, which kicked off the IRC season, the Rally Internacional de Curitiba marks the real start of hostilities between the title contenders. Mikko Hirvonen, Sébastien Ogier and Stéphane Sarrazin are no longer there, and have made way for the drivers who will compete for most of the season.
Kris Meeke, titled in 2009, made his reunion with the IRC in a very bad way by going off the road during the Monte-Carlo Rally. The Northern Irishman therefore starts from scratch before taking the start of the Brazilian rally.
He will notably face him Bruno Magalhaes (Peugeot 207), Juho Hänninen (Skoda Fabia), Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia) and Guy Wilks (Skoda Fabia). The latter, winner of the Scottish Rally in 2009, finished in sixth place in the Monte-Carlo Rally and is expecting quality adversity this season.
« It seems to me that it will be really tight between the different leaders, declares the Briton. The first day only offers very fast stages and you have to be really daring to set a time. »
