Yoann Bonato leads ERC on Rally Catalunya

The crazy idea of mixingERC with the WRC did not trigger passions. There were ultimately only 21 to line up at the start of this last round of the season which offered 14 SS and 235,52 km timed. Unlike the elite where Pirelli has a monopoly, the European championship is open to manufacturers and Michelin seized the opportunity to be able to show the qualities of its tires with Yoann Bonato in particular. Glad to have seen this rally to complete a European program that he thought was finished, the Frenchman only left the first special of the initial loop to his main opponent, Efren Llarena. Winner of the title this season, the latter was unable to prevent Bonato from setting the best times. Author of 5 stage wins in the 7 stage races (SS8 was cancelled), the Deux-Alpes driver created a margin of 18s5 which he will seek to manage during Saturday's stage (6 stages and 116,60 km). At the wheel of his Opel Corsa Rally4, Laurent Pellier had a superb day, regularly ahead of competitors racing on Rally2s. Ranked 6e tonight, he largely dominates his category.
