The Acura ARX-02a of Ferran Motorsport made a mistake after being severely hit by the Lola P2 of Jon Field, who collected a penalty for this dangerous overtaking attempt. The car was pushed behind the pits. This is an excellent operation for the other Acura, that of Patron Highcroft Racing, which is fighting for the title. Scott Sharp and David Brabham, who were able to recover their cars in time, lead the ALMS driver standings.
David Brabham currently occupies fifth place in the race, behind Audi and Peugeot . It is the R15 of Allan McNish which occupies the lead, ahead of the 908 HDi n°07 of Pedro Lamy. The latter has around forty seconds ahead of Marco Werner, in the second Audi. Franck Montagny, driving the second 908, is fourth.
Ten minutes after his accident, Ferran's Acura was able to leave, with Scott Dixon at the wheel.
