If the bonus points acquired so far assured him of the title despite a possible retirement, Giandomenico Basso (Abarth Grande Punto S2000) went to the end of the Rally from Valais, finishing in second position, behind the Swiss Grégoire Hotz (Peugeot 207 S2000), leading from start to finish. The Italian driver was battling with Michal Solowow, who finished third, for the title of European Rally Champion.
