For once, it was not Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) who dominated the Free Practice of the World Championship rallycross (World RX) in Riga (Latvia) on Saturday morning. The best time (and incidentally the new track record) was achieved by Mattias Ekström (Audi). The Swede is ahead of his compatriot Timmy Hansen (Peugeot ) of nine hundredths and Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot) by two tenths.
The Volkswagen Polos are relegated from the virtual podium; Johan Kristoffersson is fourth, ahead of Petter Solberg. Guerlain Chicherit (Renault) got off to a quiet start (13th at 1″6) just like Grégoire Demoustier (Peugeot, 19th at 3″).
