Thierry Neuville (Peugeot ) loses his head Rally from Cyprus after suffering a puncture and battery problems in the Koilinia stage. The Belgian finished almost 3 minutes behind Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda), who took back control of the event after completing the 24,15km of the course (contested in reverse order) in 20:05:6. Nasser Al-Attiyah (Ford) continues to impress, finishing just 2?3 behind the Norwegian. “We adjusted the suspension and now I'm trying to be fast”, explains the driver of the Fiesta S2000.
Jan Kopecky (Skoda) marks time by failing more than 27 seconds behind the leader. “I caught up with Thierry and followed him closely, it wasn’t easy with the dust”, explains the Czech.
Freddy Loix (Skoda) is almost 33 seconds behind Andreas Mikkelsen but remains optimistic for the rest of the weekend. “I'm not used to the car on gravel, I have to progress step by step. It's not a problem, the fastest driver never finishes in Cyprus », jokes the Belgian.
Patrik Sandell (Skoda) loses more than 40 seconds on the leader and doubts his choice of tires for the afternoon.
Andreas Mikkelsen is 18??7 ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah, who continues to surprise by taking 2nd position after the problems encountered by Thierry Neuville. The Belgian fell to 7th place behind Karl Kruuda (Skoda) and is now 2:46 behind the last winner in Scotland. Jan Kopecky effectively protects his 3rd place but is 21 seconds behind the Fiesta S2000 of Nasser Al-Attiyah. Freddy Loix is now 4th ahead of Patrik Sandell.
