Thanks to two new gold medals, acquired in Rally2 and Cross Car, France finished Saturday at the top of the FIA ​​Motorsport Games medal table.

FIA Motorsport Games: France tops the medal table with 3 gold medals

Halfway through the FIA ​​Motorsport Games, host nation France took the lead in the medal table thanks to three gold medals won in Rally2, GT Cup and Senior Cross Car at the Paul Ricard circuit and surroundings.

After the opening of the counter by Simon Gachet and Éric Debard earlier in the afternoon on Saturday, with a victory in the GT Cup ahead of Germany, it was the turn of Mathieu Arzeno and his co-driver, Romain Roche, to take gold in the Rally2 event. The French victory was never in question from the first special stage on Friday morning, the crew on the Skoda Fabia extending its lead to more than a minute over the Spanish team made up of José Maria López and Borja Rozada. The battle for the three medals was played out over a trio of Super Special around the Circuit Paul Ricard, with a new victory for the French team which won gold ahead of Spain and the Estonian duo Georg Linnamäe – James Michael Morgan

The third gold medal was won by David Méat, in Senior Cross Car. In great shape, the Breton had already won his semi-final by a significant margin of almost 15 seconds. The Frenchman then won gold by beating Spaniard Ivan Pina-Chinchilla in the final. 

Among the significant victories, Italy won gold in the other two events of rally, in Rally4 and in Historic Rally, while Belgium won the endurance event in karting. Latvia took the top step of the podium in the drift event, the Netherlands in the Junior Cross Car category and the British, big favorites in the e-sport event, won gold thanks to to James Baldwin.
