The ACO took advantage of the Zhuhai 1000 km to unveil the first draft of the 2011 ILMC calendar. As agreed, the second edition of this series will consist of seven rounds. But if we seemed to be heading towards three in Europe (Spa and Silverstone and of course the 24 Hours of Le Mans), two in the United States (Sebring and Road Atlanta), one in China, and one in Japan (Fuji), the ACO has made some modifications.

If as planned everything should start with the 12 Hours of Sebring before continuing with the 1000 km of Spa and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is after that that the changes take place. The fourth round would also take place in Europe in July, two months before the Silverstone 1000 km, which would unsurprisingly take place in September. As in 2010, the closing event would be held in November, in China, on a route yet to be defined.
What about the penultimate meeting? A fourth European race in July will sideline either Petit Le Mans or the Japanese stage. It remains to be seen which one. But whatever happens, it will be a loss...

The 2011 ILMC calendar could therefore be as follows:

March 19 : 12 Hours of Sebring (USA)
May 8 : 1000 km from Spa (Belgium)
June 11-12 : 24 Hours of Le Mans (France)
July : Europe
September 11st : 1000 km from Silverstone (Great Britain)
October : Event outside Europe
November : China
